Amanda Barker

Yoga is a practice of remembering and of returning to the body and mind as a place of intelligence, liberation, peace, and gratitude. Amanda's practice and her teaching is rooted in the belief that alignment, balance, and strength are revealed through attention, breath, and relationship with the Earth beneath us. When we set aside time to tend to the inner space, we cultivate the personal values that keep us evolving, transforming, and growing into what we are guided to become.

As a young adult, Amanda's interest in Yoga emerged from the perspective of an athlete, but she quickly became intrigued with the deeper philosophical inquiries of Ashtanga yoga, and of the explorations into the subtle energies of Tantric Kundalini practices. Through her studies into meditation and Kriya sets, she initiated a path of learning into how we inhabit ourselves: how we move through space, how we sense, how we regulate, how we grow, and how we belong. Amanda is particularly drawn to the intersection of self-awareness, intuition, and the subtle ways the body holds both adaptation and possibility. Yoga is a lifelong guide on this journey of becoming.

Themes of grounding, nourishment, energetic balance, and ritual shape my classes. She integrates breath work, mudra, affirmations, guided visualizations, and slow, intentional asana to create spaces that are both stabilizing and expansive. There is an emphasis on listening over striving, and on cultivating a relationship with sensation that is precise, curious, and kind.

Amanda brings a background that blends structured training with ongoing self-study and lived experience. Her experiences as a student at the Ananda Center in Northern California, at the Himalayan Institute in Pennsylvania, and at World Peace Yoga in Cincinnati, Ohio, have informed her formal yoga education. She also incorporates her broader exploration of ecology, psychology, travel, and the patterns that connect inner and outer landscapes learned through her undergraduate, graduate, and Doctoral studies into her sessions. This interdisciplinary lens allows her to hold space in a way that is both practical and philosophical.

At its core, Amanda's purpose as a yoga instructor is simple: to guide others through a felt sense of presence, where strength is steady, breath is available, and the body becomes a place you can trust. Thanks for being here.
